LA DIVINA COMMEDIA
This date, the earliest in the Histoires de Parfums collection, is that of the first edition of one of the most beautiful and influential works of mediaeval poetry: la Divina Commedia. Written by Dante Alighieri, this work, divided into three books -Paradiso, Purgatorio and Inferno- is a long metaphor on Good and Evil, on sin and virtue, faith and faithlessness – more than anything, it is an exploration if not an introspection on the reality of salvation. Of life after death.
How shall we speak of salvation, of life after life, of its shadows and its heights other than Dante already has? With 1472, Histoires de Parfums rewrites humankind’s oldest story, that of Good and Evil, transmuting sin into a scent.

The Commedia unfolds under a heavenly veil of Ylang and Artemisia swept over by the psychedelic warmth of Jasmine and Incense. Forbidden fruits, plump lips drenched in liquourous Rum, skins of Amber and ebony : fine is the line from Heaven to Hell…

solar amber ; fem & masc
Top notes: Artemisia, Ylang-Ylang, Solar Accord
Heart notes: Jasmine, Cinnamon, Frankincense
Base notes: Amber, Rum Absolute, Benzoin
A solar bouquet of Ylang-Ylang pierces a cloud of white Artemisia. Together, they cast their light upon a sacred pillar of Cinnamon and Frankincense, yet there comes from the eves of Eden the psychedelic scent of Jasmine blossoms. Lights and shadows dance with gourmand winds, forbidden fruits ripen on the grass, the liquourous bite of Rum Absolute clings to lovers’ lips, bronze and ebony skins are licked by the warmth of the hearth and exude a scent of bodily balsams, of Amber and Benzoin. There lies strong in the air the smell of a love encompassing all of human loves. There is but one step… from Heaven to Hell.
